Travis Kelce is standing firm, refusing to let Taylor Swift shoulder the blame for the Kansas City Chiefs’ recent losses.
The NFL tight end, who has been romantically linked with Swift, found himself and his team under scrutiny following their Christmas Day defeat to the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Chiefs’ setbacks against the Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers, and Philadelphia Eagles had already stirred discussions about potential distractions, with fingers pointed at Swift’s presence during games.
Addressing the issue on his New Heights podcast with cohost and brother, Jason Kelce, Travis Kelce didn’t mince words about the team’s performance during the Christmas game.
Slamming his helmet down on the sidelines, Kelce described the offense as “embarrassing” and made it clear that blaming Swift was unjustified.
Taking responsibility for the loss, he emphasized the need for personal and team accountability, saying, “I gotta f–king lock the f–k in and be more accountable for him and be more accountable for my teammates.”
Reflecting on the Christmas game, Kelce expressed frustration at handing the victory to the Raiders, stating, “We literally played Santa and gave them a present. That was embarrassing.” Despite the challenges, Kelce acknowledged some “bright spots,” such as achieving his 900th career catch.
Interestingly, Swift was present at the game, accompanied by her parents and Kelce’s own father, according to Us Weekly.
Post-game, Swift’s fans rallied on social media, defending her against baseless allegations connecting her presence to the team’s losses.
While Swift’s influence on the Chiefs’ performance is non-existent, she remains a significant part of their season’s narrative.
Fans, both of the team and the pop sensation, now hope that the Chiefs can regroup, overcome challenges, and enter the playoffs with a renewed focus and determination.
