Monday Night Laughs: Andy Reid’s Comic Ode to Fletcher Cox’s Evergreen Performance

The upcoming clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles promises an exciting showdown, especially considering the formidable defensive line led by Eagles’ veterans Brandon Graham and Fletcher Cox.

Despite being well into their 30s, Cox and Graham continue to showcase effective play, maintaining the Eagles’ defensive line as one of the NFL’s best units for years.

In anticipation of their Monday Night Football matchup, Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid took a moment to acknowledge Cox’s ageless performance.

Reid playfully commented, “No. 91 doesn’t seem to get old. I’m not sure what you guys are feeding him, but he is something else. Those cheesesteaks are working,” as reported by Ralph Vacchiano of FOX Sports.

It’s worth noting that Reid had previously coached Cox during his rookie season when he was with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Since then, Reid has faced his former player in high-stakes games, including a Super Bowl, where the Chiefs emerged victorious.

Impressively, the Chiefs maintain a perfect 4-0 record against Reid’s former team in the four matchups since 2013.

On the Eagles’ side, Fletcher Cox is navigating through one of his less statistically productive seasons in 2023, recording 1.5 sacks and 17 tackles while playing 73% of the team’s defensive snaps.

Despite the dip in individual numbers, Cox’s veteran presence remains invaluable, especially in mentoring the younger defenders on the Eagles’ roster.

Additionally, he leads a Philadelphia defense that currently ranks first against the run, conceding only 66.3 yards per game.

As the Chiefs prepare to face this formidable Eagles’ lineup, Reid’s lighthearted acknowledgment of Cox’s ageless prowess adds an amusing touch to the narrative.
