The Athletic Poll Confirms: Patrick Mahomes Reigns as NFL’s Top Player

In a recent survey conducted by The Athletic, Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, emerged as the consensual choice for the best player in the NFL today.

This recognition comes despite the Chiefs grappling with a frustrating home loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, a rematch of the 2022-23 Super Bowl, which Kansas City had previously secured.

While the Chiefs remain in a comfortable playoff position in the AFC, the dynamic plays that have characterized their offense in previous seasons have been notably absent this year.

However, the temporary offensive lull has not cast any doubts on Mahomes’ standing as a football virtuoso.

Since taking over as the starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018, succeeding Alex Smith, Mahomes has rapidly solidified his place as one of the greatest players in the history of the position.

His leadership has propelled the Chiefs to consistent success, marked by numerous appearances in the AFC Championship Game and three trips to the Super Bowl, resulting in two championships for the organization.

Despite the current 7-3 standing after the Eagles’ loss, the Chiefs have yet to attain the offensive prowess characteristic of Mahomes’ tenure.

This period included an MVP award last year and a Super Bowl MVP title. Looking ahead, the Chiefs are gearing up for a road game against the Las Vegas Raiders on November 26.
