Rashee Rice: Navigating Unwritten Rules, Overcoming Criticism, and Winning with the Chiefs

The breakout star of the Kansas City Chiefs this season is undeniably Rashee Rice, leading the team in receptions (68) and receiving yards (754).

As a rookie, he has already left an indelible mark, breaking franchise records with seven receiving touchdowns.

On a recent episode of Fubo Sports’ “Airing It Out,” Rice openly admitted that despite his newfound star status, he has yet to meet Taylor Swift, the famous girlfriend of Travis Kelce.

Rice, however, disclosed an unwritten rule he follows when it comes to approaching a teammate’s significant other.

“I’ve seen her, but I didn’t go up to her, like, ‘Can I get a picture?’ Nothing like that,” Rice revealed.

“I wouldn’t go up to another dude’s girl and go, ‘Can I get a picture with your girl?’ Nah, nah. I don’t got nothin’ to do with that.”

While Rice considers making an exception if his own girlfriend were present, he underscored the camaraderie within the team, emphasizing the unique perspective teammates share.

Despite not crossing paths with Swift, Rice expressed his respect for Kelce and the positive influence Swift has brought to the team.

Addressing the criticisms hurled at the Chiefs’ receivers after a challenging victory against the New England Patriots, Rice spoke with Fubo Sports’ TJ Houshmandzadeh.

He revealed that external criticism has strengthened their internal bond. “To be honest, I feel like just from us hearing that we ain’t got a good receiver room, stuff like that, it just makes it easier for us to lean on each other,” Rice said.

Rice also defended his fellow receivers, highlighting the importance of focusing on fundamentals and work ethic in the NFL.

He acknowledged the talent present in the team but stressed that work ethic is what truly sustains a player in the league.

In a recent episode of the “New Heights” podcast, Travis Kelce commended Rice’s progress, expressing pride in the rookie’s growing responsibilities during crucial moments.

Looking ahead, the Chiefs are set to face the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Day, with the opportunity to secure the AFC West and a playoff berth with a win.

Kelce, echoing the team’s focus, highlighted Mahomes’ exceptional dedication, stating, “He’s been focused more than I’ve ever seen him focused.”

With aspirations for the No. 1 seed in the AFC, the Chiefs remain determined as they head into the final stretch of the season.
