Shaking Off the Haters: Taylor Swift’s Poised Response to Boos from Patriots Fans

“I’m just there to support Travis,” Swift told ‘Time’ earlier this month when asked about the attention she receives at Chiefs games.

The haters may hate, but Taylor Swift remains unfazed by the criticism! At Sunday’s Chiefs vs. Patriots game, the “Cruel Summer” singer faced boos from New England fans as she cheered on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

A message on the Jumbotron tried to capture the mood: “‘Gillette Stadium is the most joyful place on Earth’ — Taylor Swift,” but it was followed by a wave of disapproval from the crowd.

In response, the 34-year-old pop sensation handled the situation with grace, flashing a smile, waving, and even blowing a kiss to the audience, as seen in a video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter).

In her Time 2023 Person of the Year interview earlier this month, Swift reflected on the impact she’s had on the NFL and the newfound attention she receives while supporting Kelce.

“I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in. There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once,” she shared.

However, she emphasized, “I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”

Swift’s appreciation for the game has grown since she started dating Kelce. “Football is awesome, it turns out,” she cheekily remarked. “I’ve been missing out my whole life.”

While she maintained her cool demeanor during the boos at Sunday’s game, where the Chiefs emerged victorious with a 27-17 score, the “Clean” singer did show visible dismay at a referee’s call.

During the top of the third quarter, Kelce missed a pass from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, with Patriots cornerback Myles Bryant defending.

Kelce, visibly upset with the no-call on pass interference, threw up his hands, and Swift, watching from a suite, joined in the reaction.

A clip shared by ESPN captured her jumping to her feet, yelling something, and motioning toward the field.

Upon learning of Swift’s passionate response, Bryant commented, “It’s a high-stakes game. People get real into it, so it’s cool. It’s cool she’s into it,” as reported by PEOPLE.
